Your Board and Management 

​​Bruce Spangler was appointed as a director in February 2010. A chartered accountant with 35 years of experience, Bruce transitioned from his role as senior partner and chair of a major chartered accounting firm to focus on non-executive directorships.

Throughout his career, Bruce has provided financial and commercial advice to numerous SMEs across diverse industries. His expertise spans chairing local, national, and international groups, serving as audit partner for significant clients, and conducting extensive intra-office reviews. He brings particular depth of knowledge in the rural sector, as well as sporting and community organizations.

Bruce currently serves as a member of the Audit Committee and holds directorships in several companies managed by FABAL.

Phil has more than 30 years’ experience in financial services with key strengths in funds management,  corporate and financial service governance, having worked for several ASX listed investment companies in senior executive roles.

He is currently a consultant in the funds management sector and a responsible manage for a number of Australian Financial Services Licenses, as well as being a director of a commercial solar investment business. Phil has been an investor in the Kayinga Estate vineyard since inception.  

Brian Benger has been a director of KVL since October 2018.  He is an experienced company director having been on the boards within the National Mutual Group, the GIO Group and the Guild Group, of which he was also the Managing Director.

Brian is a former Chairman of The FABAL Group Pty. Ltd.  Until recently, Brian was a director of GMHBA and several of its subsidiaries and also a director of EngInsure Pty Ltd.  Brian remains Chairman of Mercer Financial Advice (Australia) Pty. Ltd. Brian has a long history in the management of the Kayinga Estate and is a shareholder in the company.

Ashley joined FABAL in April 1999 as Western Australian Viticultural Manager before advancing to oversee viticulture and infrastructure management in 2003. In April 2024, coinciding with his 25th anniversary of service to FABAL, Ashley was elevated to the position of Group CEO.

With more than 25 years of viticultural management experience, Ashley has led the management and development of FABAL Vineyards' viticulture projects and has been directly involved in developing all of the company's Barossa Valley properties over the past 15 years.

David joined the FABAL Operations team in January 2005, bringing diverse experience across multiple Australian wine regions. His background includes working with Beringer Blass Wine Estates in the Coonawarra and McGuigan Wines in the Riverland, giving him expertise in both cool and warm climate viticulture. He also gained hands-on knowledge of the Clare Valley through his involvement in a local family vineyard development and has broadened his experience internationally with time spent in New Zealand's Marlborough and Gisborne wine regions.
